Samuel Hayes papers, 1696 1770-1797.

Consists mostly of land surveys conducted by Samuel Hayes, dating from 1696-1817, with bulk dates of 1770-1797. The surveys were performed land owned in Bergen, Essex and Sussex Counties for many of Newark's prominent citizens, including William Halsey, Isaac Crane, Caleb Parkhurst, and Elias Boudinot. The collection also contains additional surveys conducted by Jonathan Sargent and land deeds from the town of Newark.
